Certified sommelier Clara Orban will introduce winemaking in Italy, its history and geography, and highlight the regions that produced the wines you will sample. She will also say a few words about the wines themselves as you enjoy this convivial evening of “la dolce vita.”

ABOUT CLARA ORBAN
Clara Orban is professor of French and Italian at DePaul University. She received her Ph.D. at the University of Chicago in Romance Languages. She has published books, book chapters, articles, and presented papers on surrealism, futurism, language pedagogy, AIDS literature, sports, TV, and Italian film. She published her first novel, Terra Firma, in 2006. She is also a certified sommelier and teaches Geography 350: The World of Wine at DePaul with a Study Abroad component. Her book, Wine Lessons: Ten Questions to Guide Your Appreciation of Wine, is in its third edition. Her eighth book, Illinois Wines and Wineries: the Essential Guide, was published in 2014. Her interest in Hungarian cinema has led to several presentations, published articles, as well as a forthcoming book on film director Béla Tarr.

Hearth And Crust, located in the Irving park neighborhood opened July 2017. Helmed by restaurateurs, Chef Jose “Chepe” Garcia and Eileen Garcia. After finding success in Logan Square with Buona Terra, opened in 2002, they looked for a location that was convenient to where they lived and underserved by restaurants. Irving park seemed like the right fit. Since then, the community has responded with resounding support.
