Through the Eyes of Its First Veterinarian: Remembering Lincoln Park Zoo
presented by Dr. Lester E. Fisher

Dr. Fisher will share his travel experiences around the world to locate various animals in the wild and study their habitats, so as to transform Lincoln Park Zoo’s environments to more natural settings for its animals.

Hired as Lincoln Park Zoo’s first veterinarian, Dr. Lester E. Fisher is a legend. He was named director in 1962, beginning a 30-year tenure that transformed the zoo. Dr. Fisher has appeared on TV in Ray Rayner’s Ark in the Park segments and with Marlin Perkins of Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom. He has greatly influenced the world of conservation and a Chicago “treasure.”

Join us to hear about Dr. Fisher’s fascinating travels!
