The workshop is virtual, using Zoom for our sessions. All you need is a computer and Internet browser.
The workshop is for in-service, pre-service and informal educators teaching Grades 4-12 in any discipline. Sessions will focus on strategies for using and teaching GIS in your curriculum. No prior experience in GIS is needed.
We will be using both the classic and new versions of ArcGIS Online.
Join us to learn how to integrate interactive online mapping experiences into your existing curriculum.
Discover how a GIS differs from other online mapping experiences, such as Google Earth, preparing students for a digital world and potential career opportunities.
Participants must attend all three days of the workshop to receive $300, a Certificate of Completion and up to 18 PD hours.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
– Review basic GIS skills
– Add symbols and design pop-up windows
– Modify symbology and configure pop-up windows
– Add layers to a GIS map
– Filter information to extract specific information from a map
– Locate and use remote sensing information
– Use the Living Atlas
